Veteran’s Day

“Also, I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” Isaiah 6:8

When I was younger, I never paid attention to Veteran’s Day. It was just another day, but as I have gotten older, especially in the last 5 or 6 years, it has started to take on a new meaning for me. Veteran’s Day is a special day to honor all of our hero’s, especially the fallen for the sacrifices they have made over the years for this great country and for us. People they don’t even know. People that might not like them or agree with them, but they still enlisted, served and fought for us. Just like Jesus. He made the ultimate sacrifice and gave His life for us. Even though He knew some would not accept Him, He still did it. All of us unworthy, but His love was greater.

In his sermon last Sunday morning, the pastor spoke about how he wanted to enlist, but when he went for the physical, he did not make it. He did however, make it into another army. God’s army. He said when he dies, he wants the Christian flag draped over his coffin. I never thought of it like that until then. We may not be members of The United States military, but we are members of God’s military. Waking each morning and putting on the armor of God and going into battle against the devil and all of his evil. Fighting for our loved ones, for those who are lost and those that we may never know. I know it’s not the same sacrifice and the same fight, but we are also Veteran’s. Veterans of God’s army.

I would also like to the thank all of the military families. Thank you for your service and the sacrifices you made not having your loved ones here with you. Especially on those special occasions. And thank you for your understanding too. I know it’s a hard life, but you did it anyways. God Bless our Veteran’s, our active duty and all of their families. And God Bless the USA!

Are You Ready

Hello Church,

Another week is almost gone and we are still looking for the Lord to come. His coming could be any day! Are you ready?

God has blessed us even in all the sickness going on. We have a number of folks struggling with Covid, but to our knowledge, no one got it from church. Let’s continue doing our part to keep the church Covid Free.

We are looking forward to Sunday as we are starting a New Members Class at 10:00 and at 11:00 we are worshiping with communion. It’s always exciting as we watch the Lord move.  Join in and worship Him as the King of Kings.

Have a great and safe weekend and enjoy serving God.

God Bless You,

Pastor Bob

Are You Ready

Hello Church, Another week is almost gone and we are still looking for the Lord to come. His coming could be any day! Are you ready? God has blessed us even in all the sickness going on. We have a number of folks struggling with Covid, but to our knowledge, no one got it from church. Let’s continue…

Heaven On My Mind

I woke up this morning feeling absolutely wonderful, I had Heaven on my mind. Just thinking about it makes me want to go. Are you ready? If not, it is only thru His blood that we can be saved. Trust me, Heaven is not something you want to miss. So, join this happy band of Christians and we’ll all go together.

We will be starting a new members class September 5th at 10am during the Sunday School hour and would love for you to join us. It will be for 13 weeks and I will be teaching you all about the church and our beliefs. At the end of the quarter we have a dinner here at the church with good food and even better fellowship for all those who attended the class. If you are not a member and have not been through our new members class or if you just want to learn more about the church, make plans to join us now.

We are still moving right along with the “little house”. Our electrician was in there working this week. Please continue to pray for us during the renovation process. As you know with construction, it usually ends up being more than what you thought. Let’s rejoice in what God had done, is doing and will do for us. I’m looking forward to much more. God is so good!

See us this Sunday,

Pastor Bob

We Are Blessed

We pray that you have had a great week and are anticipating a wonderful time on Sunday. I’m reminded of that chorus we sometimes sing:

“I am blessed. I am blessed. Everyday that I live I am blessed. When I wake up in the morning till I lay my head to rest. I am blessed. I am blessed.” And then we change it up to “you are blessed” and “we are blessed”. We are blessed. All of us  have a roof over our heads, shoes on our feet, clothes on our backs and food to eat. In this great country that we live in, we are free to worship the way we want. And we have a nice, clean place we can come together and fellowship and worship the Lord. Matthew 18:20 says “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” You show up and we can assure you, that God will be here too. Yes, we are blessed, extremely blessed.

The church is aware of the Covid situation, and we do not plan to make it mandatory to wear masks, but you are more than welcome to wear one if you would like. There are masks and hand sanitizer on the table in the foyer available for you. Please use common sense and protect yourself and your neighbors. Working together, we will make it!

Come expecting, leave rejoicing this Sunday,

Pastor Bob

Down, But Not Out

Hello Church Folks,

Wonderful day, even if I am in a brace. As some of you know, I took a tumble down the steps of the porch last Friday night and I tore my quadricep on my right leg. By the time you read this, I will be out of surgery, recovery and home resting. And guess what? Your prayers will have worked. I may be down, but I am certainly not out. Just slowed down a little. Keep praying for me though. I will not be preaching Sunday, brother LaVaughn Young will and as long as everything goes well, I plan to be there.

We are still excited about all God is doing here at Heritage and all over. I know things look a little grim right now, but just keep holding onto God and trust in Him. You know the devil does not like when things are going good and he will do whatever he can to hinder our walk with the Lord, but rest assured God’s got a plan and He’s gonna take care of us. He is our shield and our buckler, our refuge and fortress, He is our protector. No need to be afraid, God’s got us. “There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” Psalms 91:10-11. Psalms 91, our hedge of protection.

God Bless and see you Sunday,

Temporary

Last night, a friend had this bible verse posted on Facebook:

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Honestly I’ve read it before, but that was it. I just read it and moved on. But last night, was different. It really stood out and I have not been able to get it off my mind. My husband and I have had a lot going on the past couple of months between the kids and work and home, it’s just been none stop. And it seems like before we can get through one thing, something else happens. I keep thinking what next Lord? How much more? Sometimes when we are going through the storm, all we can see is the storm. The frustration, the disappointment, the anger, the pain. We can’t see that this is just temporary and it will pass. The sun will shine again. And God is right there with us, guiding and drawing us closer to Him.

It is really hard to see sometimes, but the things that we go through are just stepping stones to get us where we are supposed to be. To draw us closer to God. To learn to lean on and trust in Him more. To ask Him for his help because we can’t do it on our own. And He never intended for us to. All God wants is to pick us up and carry us through. We just have to ask Him. No matter how heavy or hard our problems may be, there are nothing compared to what Jesus went through for us. If He could endure the pain that He went through, I know that with Him, we can endure whatever comes our way. The things of this world are temporary, but our reward is eternal.

Flying By

Hello Church,

Well another week has gone flying by, and we haven’t gone home yet. Are you Rapture Ready? After this Sunday, our study in Revelation will pick back up on Wednesday nights @ 7pm.

What a difference a week can make! How about one day or one phone call? No matter what you may be going through right now, know that God has a plan. It’s hard sometimes to trust something that you can’t see or control. And, we get impatient. We want it now. But if we will just learn to trust Him, we will see that His plan is so much better than anything we could of ever imagined. It’s all in HIS time though, not ours.

Have you been by the pavilion to check out the new sign yet? Great job to all who had a hand in donating it. Sister Judy and brother Tommy Chubb, the Cramer’s and the Knight’s all gave their part to make it happen. We are so blessed!

VBS starts this Sunday night @ 7pm. A lot of work goes into vacation bible school every year. Preparation starts months in advance looking for the right lessons, lining up teachers and helpers, and then there is the decorating. It is an exciting and special week that your children will love. These little lessons and songs will stay with them a lifetime. We will also have an adult class for you too. We’ll even give you a little snack before you go home. So make plans to join us now. You will be blessed!

Handfuls of Purpose

Hello Church,

How do you out give God? Over the years, our church has always been faithful to give and support many different missions here in our own country and aboard. And, God has always been faithful to give US more than we can expect. We read in Ruth of Boaz speaking to his servants to let “handfuls of purpose” fall for her. Over the last few months, God has let those handfuls of purpose shower down upon us and we have been gleaning over and over. Our pavilion is now finished and no debt was incurred. We bought the little house and still no debt. Now we are about to start working on the house and, yet again God has taken care of things. With Him, nothing really is impossible!

Those of you who have been waiting to come back home, now is the time! So many exciting things coming up. Caleb Rose will be with us this whole month and VBS will be the week of July 18-22. We are jumping for joy over here at all that God is doing. Why don’t you make plans to join us now? And if you really want to have some fun, come meet the SON. It is such a wonderful life just being HIS child and a part of HIS family.

Smile

Hello Church,

What a wonderful week this has been. We used to sing a chorus that said “When you can’t say a word, you can smile” and smile a lot is what we’ve done. No funerals this week and most illnesses got better. We also got our building permit to remodel the little house this week. Keep on giving us those handfuls on purpose Lord, we can take it.

We pray that you have had a great week also. If not, just keep look up. Things WILL get better.

We sure had a wonderful service on Sunday night and again on Wednesday night too! Maybe it’s time for you to join us. You will not regret it and you might just be amazed! This Sunday is July 4th, so what a great day to be in church. God Bless America and us too!

See you Sunday,

Pastor Bob

What a week

Hello Church,

What a week it has been! We had two funerals and several in the hospital, but God is still good. We are blessed in spite of it all! We also closed on the “little house” and land across the street this week. It is now officially ours! We are excited as we watch what God is doing, giving us handfuls on purpose.

Now onto something that has been weighing heavy on my mind. We need to find ourselves back in church. It has been a long, hard year and it is time to move forward and watch God work. Things are starting to look up. You do not have to wear a mask UNLESS you want to. We are starting to get back together and fellowship. People are shaking hands and hugging again. It feels so good to get back to normal. We are still being careful though. If you are sick, stay home! And we have some exciting things planned starting with the return of Step Down Church for ages 9-12, VBS for all ages and brother Caleb will be back with us for the month of July. It is just so good being in church and like the bible say, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.” Psalms 122:1. So, if you have not been in awhile, don’t you think it’s time to come home?

With that being said, ladies you are in for a treat Monday night! Ladies Circle will be out at the Burns Pavilion at 7pm. If you have never been or if it’s been awhile, make plans now to attend. You will be glad you did!

God Bless You,

Pastor Bob
